Christmas at Pigeon Ground

EXTENDED CHRISTMAS TRADING HOURS: Pigeon Ground will be open every day of the week from the 18th of December until Christmas Eve. So aside from our regular Thursday to Sunday hours, we'll also be open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (Christmas Eve) from 11am to 6pm.

GIFT VOUCHERS: Our vouchers could be a handy solution for that special someone whose taste you can't comprehend. You can get one in any denomination.

CHRISTMAS/NEW YEAR BREAK: We will be closed over the Christmas, New Year period from the 25th of December until the 7th of January.

Just landed in the hallowed confines of Pigeon Ground is Streets Magazine. This great mag documents street fashion as it happens not on a catwalk but on real people going about their everyday festivities and is the ultimate 'people watcher'. London is documented in this latest edition.

And we also have copies of the latest Fruits mag too. This iconic street fashion mag highlights the forever beautiful world of the clothing obsessed men & women of Japan and is just amazing!

We are part of Sydney Design Festival

Sydney Design Festival runs from 7-24 August and Pigeon Ground is proud to be involved in the 'There's a Hole in my Bucket' project.
The Project
100 bright yellow buckets will be introduced into the Sydney landscape, each of them rendered useless by a hole cut into their bottom. Since the buckets are no longer able to carry water and undertake their functional purpose, they will be used to signpost examples of design that in the photographers opinion, are flawed or counter-productive in some way.

There is no restriction on the content of the photographs, the only condition is that they must contain a bright yellow bucket with the identification number visible.

The images wil be uploaded daily and a closing party on Mon 25th August will celebrate the project and award prizes for the most thought provoking and ingenious submissions.

So come in, grab a bucket at start shooting from the hip and highlight something that frustrates you about Sydney and the designed environment we live in. 

Look at Me!

Our record cover inspired August window has a distinct 'Look at me' vibe celebrating the album cover portrait. If you can name all the faces you are one smart cookie indeed.

Scientist Vs Mad Professor?

Who did better album covers and who's a nicer guy? Word on the street is the Scientist wins on both those counts. By a nose on the former and a country mile on the latter. Who made better dub? Well, that's still up for debate. They'll be battling that one out on the sound system at Pigeon Ground over the next few weeks (or until sold). They're very lucky King Tubby isn't in on this fight, as although he'd lose on the first 2 criteria, on account of his rubbish album covers and the fact that he's also dead (which disqualifies him from being nice or otherwise), his dub would easily blow those other two knob twiddlers away, but I digress...

There's lots more great dub, roots and rocksteady offerings doing battle in the "fresh stock" rack as of today. First in, best dressed...

Tucked away in a shambolic studio high up in the labyrinth like corridors of Melbourne's famous Nicholas Building, one man and his scroll saw have forever changed the lapels of a brooch-loving Melbourne public.

Another gorgeous window for your viewing pleasure. This time it's to tell you to get down to Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery to check out a group exhibition called Oblivion Pavilion featuring our very own Agatha. The show is on until the 17th of May.

Damian Robison In-Store Performance

Sydney indie rocker, Damian Robison will be performing an acoustic set at Pigeon Ground on the morning of Saturday the 9th of February from 11am. See him here in unplugged mode before you see him later in the evening with his full band at the Excelsior Hotel in Surry Hills, where he'll be launching his debut Long Player "Round Robin".
